Day 18 - Wednesday
This tool was incredibly useful
to getting a uniform keel. it is the portable planner, very messy, especialy
when you use it so all the sawdust shoots up at your face and into your hair.
I nicked my finger on this tool, it didnt hurtn or bleed much, but I went
through a few band-aods working.
Since I do not have many spare 4x4's as the plans
siggest I just made the deadwood from 3 1x scraps. It was glued together and glued on using the adheasive
caulk. It was also screwed together and screwed on. Also is the notch that the bottom goes into
I drilled it with a drill bit, and in other news a broke the blade to the reciprocating saw today.
Steve basically has been doing most of my lofting, and he has been doing
a good job too, he is having trouble fitting the aft pieces and the fore piece of the deck on the same
plywood.
As you may see I made a jig or stand or whatnot to hold the keel up,
and it is held up.
Another view of the keel. Latter tonight I
also attached the side jointers
and sanded a little with the belt sander. Depleted resources today: 1 canister caulk/adheasive, 1
sanding belt, 1 reciprocating saw blade, a few 1" screws, and thats about it.
