The grab rails were through bolted, but need to be reenforced still (the bolts should have very large fender washers or should go through a partner becaue they will be grabed), here is a small modification, the grab rails on a stock Weekender would function as the track for the hatch too. I made the hatch slide out of some pine I had and I intend to replace them eventualy with oak.

The floor of the cockpit is already messy and dringy and I haven't launched yet. The brass hatch clasp thing is not actually brass as I would find out, it's rusty now, be sure things are actaully brass and not just brass painted or brass coated. The reason for the two gaps of paint is there were large wrinkles in the fiberglass there that I had to cut out.
